Discovery Pico Plus version
This version of the Quanta Discovery PICO series has the same specifications as the Discovery PICO but is combined with a Ruby laser (694nm). The Ruby laser is able to deliver 1.2 Joules of energy, making it the most advanced ruby laser on the market today and the most powerful.

The laser has large spot sizes and fast repetition rates, coupled with the 1064nm and 532nm pico-second Nd:YAG source making it the ideal solution for almost all colours of tattoo and pigmented lesions, even on darker skin’s.
Photoacoustic effect
In simple terms; when a laser delivers a high energy pulse (in the GW range) via either nanosecond or picosecond pulses, the energy is absorbed by ink or melanosomes and generates a rapid rise in temperature to more than 900oC . This rapid heating induces an extremely fast expansion within the target which in turn generates an acoustic wave that crosses the target itself. The pressure of this wave is greater than the fracture threshold of the target, causing fragmentation.
The fragments then undergo phagocytosis by the macrophages and are removed through the body's lymphatic system. This process of fragmenting the particles is termed the "Photoacoustic Effect" and, to be most effective, requires a pulse duration shorter than the time of crossing over of the mechanical wave within the target. For ink this is nanoseconds and for the smallest ink particles and single malanosomes it is picosecond, hence the need for picosecond second lasers.
A picosecond pulse can cause even the smallest black ink particle to fragment. By emitting at both 532nm and 1064nm in picosecond the Discovery PICO lasers from Quanta can treat different colours of tattoo, superficial and deep pigments and by using Photo-Thermal mode they can also provide effective skin rejuvenation in aged skin.
